Equestrian

New to the gallery!

Lionel Dalhousie Robertson Edwards is known as one of the foremost sporting artists, and has been described as second only to Munnings.

I have a rare opportunity to offer, on the market for the first time, this original watercolor, The Park Wall  by Lionel Edwards. The image is 14 x 10 inches and is enscribed, signed and dated 1928, by Mr. Edwards.  It has been double matted and framed by the original owner. This watercolor is featured in his book, "My Scottish Sketch Book".

The book is also available in our gallery in a signed, numbered, limited edition copy.

Collections

From furniture, lamps and stemware to rare books by Lionel Edwards and Snaffles, we are proud of the sporting art and collectibles that we carry in the Millbrook Gallery and Antiques and the Millbrook Antiques Mall. These photographs represent only a small example of the equestriana you will find when you visit. Some of the collectibles you will find are glasses with handpainted huntscenes by Vosmansky, long a illustrator for Abercrombie and Fitch. You might enjoy the glasses with handsome jockeys on them or a gorgeous vintage fabric with steeplechase motifs covering the tan cotton twill. We even have a pair of velvet gentlemen’s slippers with foxheads embroidered in gold thread, my deahh. Come in. You’ll have fun.

Art

To exhibit all these wonderful sporting artists has been a delight. I think we represent several of the best equine artists. I’m proud to have Susan Dorazio and Terry Lindsey’s work on the gallery walls. Every day it is a pleasure to walk into this space and see their work represented here.

In addition to their wonderful work, we have paintings and prints from respected sporting artists of the past. As of this writing, we have an original Lionel Edwards watercolor available. We have several original pencil drawings as well as prints from Paul Brown. Henry Koehler’s collection of four racing prints are in the gallery print rack. These artists and others are represented in our antiques mall two doors down from the gallery.
